Our Story.

The year was 1999.

We were frustrated teenagers looking for a place to skate.

So we built our own.

Shiloh Skatepark.

1999 - 2001: Wayne, NJ

Our first offering to build the skateboarding community of New Jersey and invest in skateboarders was called Shiloh Skatepark.

In three years we hosted about fifteen events, but that wasn’t enough. We wanted to do more.

Solid Foundation Skatepark.

2002 - 2015: Midland Park, NJ

We took our skatepark project to an industrial park in 2002. A kind, caring property owner with a huge, empty parking lot (on Saturdays) allowed us to host skate sessions every Saturday from May through October for thirteen years.

We built new ramps and a friend donated a forklift. We had a different setup every session. We hosted monthly contests, demos and events.

At that time, there were few (legal) places to skate in New Jersey, and we had a chance to do something truly unique for skateboarders.

The miniramp.

2003 - 2017: Midland Park, NJ

Most building owners might fear the liability of skateboarders on their property, but not our friend who owned this industrial park. In 2003, when a halfpipe was donated to us, this SOLID friend went before the town planning board to get it approved on his property. But the story doesn’t end there…

Barn.

2003 - 2013: Midland Park, NJ

When it came time to store our equipment for the off-season, the same property owner who allowed us to do so much opened up his barn for us to skate during the harsh NJ winters. He was trying to sell the building, and fortunately for us it took ten years before he found a buyer.

The SOLID HQ

2015 - 2017: Midland Park, NJ

Once the barn was gone, we moved our operation to a spacious storage room that became known as The HQ. In addition to our office, we had a micro-ramp, space for art workshops and shows, and kids could come by any day of the week after school to skate, create, and connect.

It was short-lived but a great next step for us at SOLID.

Thousands of kids were a part of SOLID

in those years and made many great memories in the parking lot, at the barn, the HQ and on that property in Midland Park.

We will always be grateful for the time spent there to build our organization and invest in skateboarders in NJ.
